Backstory

Aly El Shalakany started investing in startups as an angel investor in 2011. He has since invested, mentored and coached various startups globally and helped them to scale their products and business into new markets around the world.

Apart from being the Managing Partner of Acasia Ventures, Aly is also the interim-CEO of the Acasia Group (formerly the Cairo Angels), one the leading startup support and enabling organisations in the Middle East and
Africa, a Founding Partner and member of the Investment Committee of Saudi Angel Investors, an angel fund that invests in startups in Saudi Arabia, a member of Afronpreneurs Angel Group, a syndicate of angel investors investing in African tech startups, President of the Middle East Angel Investment Network (MAIN) and a limited partner in a number of venture capital funds, including the Launch Fund in Silicon Valley and the LegalTech Fund.
